City of San Carlos

Incorporated in 1925, San Carlos was settled almost 200 years ago when the peaceful Ohlone Indians first inhabited the area. San Carlos is a community interested in exploring new ways to promote economic growth in an environmentally sensitive way while preserving the community’s character and identity. San Carlos, California, is 23 miles south of San Francisco and 23 miles north of San Jose. It lies at the north end of Silicon Valley. Noted for its charming, recently renovated downtown and delightful residential areas, San Carlos has several retail areas, a light industrial sector and a small airport.
