ABOUT HOUSTON PUBLIC WORKS
The City of Houston is the most populous city in the state of Texas and the fourth most populous city in the United States. Houston Public Works is a key player in the Mayor’s effort to build a vibrant, resilient and equitable Houston that works for all our 2.3 million residents over our 676 square miles. We are looking for someone that will help us evolve from a car-centric city with frequent bouts of street flooding to one that is resilient and supports multi-modal options providing safe passage for all Houstonians. This is your opportunity to direct transformational change.

Much like Houston itself, we are a culturally diverse team that is committed to improving our Houston’s built environment. Our team is filled with energetic change-agents who make a difference every day by balancing the needs and interests of the community we serve. The Transportation and Drainage Operations Division, with seven branches and 900 employees, provides Houstonians with public services in an effective, efficient and responsive manner.
