Reports to EVP HNW Investor Relations and Business Development

Direct Reports: Manager Research

Job Description:

Research

  • Lead the firm’s efforts to identify market trends, thematic opportunities and threats that inform investment and operational tactics
  • Update and leverage market research and internal data to monitor conditions including cycle model and market rankings, and communicate trends
  • Give presentations for investors/clients and assist in capital raising efforts by contributing to in person meetings, investor/consultant questionnaires, etc.
  • Create market summaries for the year-end and mid-year company newsletters
  • Present market information to leadership team 1-2x a year to provide insights into economic and apartment market conditions as well as identify areas of opportunity and risk 
  • Distribute brief communications to Bell Officer group and links to external presentations every 2-4 weeks, as needed, with key updates from research calls and relevant news
  • Provide summary updates on the Monthly Portfolio Review calls (10-15 min), including economic context, materials events, performance of our markets (3rd party and Bell data), etc.  Calls to be recorded and circulated to Officer group
  • Provide rent and occupancy guidance for annual Bell budget packages
  • Provide guidance for cap rate and rent growth inputs using external resources for semi-annual track record process
  • Development and design new and updated research dashboards (supported by Bell’s Business Intelligence team)
  • Respond to requests from investors and clients using Bell and 3rd party market resources and BI data
  • Support Investments and Business Development departments to supplement information for underwriting and management proposals

 

Communications

 

  • Work with the Senior Leadership team and Bell departments to collect, organize, simplify and publish internal/ external communications and data in a way that creatively, succinctly and accurately “tells the story” about market and industry trends and company updates
  • Create presentations for the Executive team for internal and external high-level corporate meetings and industry functions such as Bell Town Hall, ULI, NMHC, etc.
  • Ghostwrite high-level and broad corporate communications for Executive team
  • Connect with PR agency to help generate, create and edit articles and interviews for external media and industry events
  • Support investor presentations for institutional and High Net Worth (HNW) annual meetings
  • Oversee development of corporate and select investor and research communications, including company newsletters and investor updates
  • Copy, edit, proofread, and revise corporate communications

 

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree preferred or minimum 10 years’ experience in investor relations and/or research related field
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing comprehensive strategic communications, media and/or investor relations
  • Creative and thoughtful on how research and media technologies can be utilized
  • Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking and research trends into action plans and internal/external communications.
  • Self-reliant, analytical, problem solver, results and detail-oriented and strong written and communication skills
  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment to anticipate future needs
