Summary/Objective
Under the direction of the Lending Department, manages an existing commercial real estate loan portfolio, generates additional new Commercial Real Estate business for the bank and processes commercial real estate loan requests. Position will require ongoing oversight and management of key commercial real estate relationships.

- Management of an existing, commercial real estate client base and loan portfolio. Engaging clients in a positive, professional manner. Monitor the performance of borrowers and projects, visit projects, evaluate market trends and work with associates within the CRE Group to ensure that the Bank stays current with respect to financial and project information.
- New loan and deposit business development, generated from deepening existing loan relationships and proactively establishing new relationships for the Bank.
- Active role in all aspects of new loan origination including approval of term sheet, working with the credit underwriter in their preparation of the loan approval package, and working with outside counsel and the loan closing group to ensure the loan is documented in accordance with the approved terms and Bank policy.
- Referral of cash management, Trust/Wealth Management and consumer mortgage opportunities to Burke & Herbert Bank associates.
- Attends commercial real estate related events sponsored by the local chapters of various real estate related associations.
- Actively participates in the Community by attending events and being active in organizations in the Northern Virginia Community.
Skills/Abilities
- Sales and relationship management expertise preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of banking regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of tax returns and financial statements.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the underwriting and structuring of commercial real estate loans.
- Formal credit training preferred.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years commercial real estate lending experience in the Northern Virginia or DC Metro market preferred.
- Commercial real estate credit training.
- Computer and technologically proficient in various bank mainframe and general “desktop” applications, to include strong aptitude in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Office environment with job duties conducted via telephone, face to face meetings, and on the computer.
Physical Demands
This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and opening cabinets. This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.
