This role will focus on developing CMBS research and commentary based on the tools, data and analytics produced by the MA structured solutions division. The role will involve working with the sales team as well as key product and development teams. It will also require representation of Moody’s Analytics at internal third party conferences and events. The role will involve working with key sponsors from product and development teams. The role will involve defining the strategic direction of a range of high quality implementation & research projects to ensure our products and services meet our customers’ demands. The role will also involve implementing these plans, and communicating, promoting and validating these improvements to the wider business and market base. The role will involve generating analytics, narrative reports, and other quantitative tools using primary data and other datasets available to Moody's Analytics, primarily for use in CMBS. The role will involve influencing and managing others by providing leadership, direction & technical expertise. The role will involve resolving issues, working collaboratively within the MA organization and across business units and, when necessary, negotiating with and changing the thinking of sponsors and others.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with key internal and external sponsors to plan & improve product and services through setting of strategic roadmaps and other long terms plans/goals.
  • Plan and manage a broad range of implementation & research projects, ensuring scope and deliverables are appropriate, quality of work is high and deadlines are met.
  • Communicate strategic plans and direction to the broader business and our client base, promoting existing and potential capabilities while, as far as possible, validating need for and scope of improvements to our offerings. Provide technical support to business and our clients.
  • Conduct research on stochastic, financial and economic models across a range of asset classes including fixed income, inflation and interest rates, equities, FX, credit, real estate and other macro-economic factors.
  • A critical part of the work will include the ability to communicate effectively, through oral presentations and narrative analyses.
  • Ability to present at industry conferences, represent Moody’s Analytics in client presentations and custom advisory engagements, and effectively communicate the firm’s overall vision alongside rigor, depth, and defensibility of our data and modeling approaches.

Qualifications

  • Higher Degree (Masters, PhD) or equivalent in finance, economics, physics, engineering, statistics or other highly quantitative field.
  • Experience leading a program of complex research and implementations projects, with evidence of strong strategic planning, prioritization and conflict resolution skills.
  • A strong track record and proven expertise in: option pricing theory, stochastic calculus, Monte Carlo methods and/or financial economics and strong knowledge of statistical analysis of financial & econometric time-series and familiarity with financial/economic datasources/databases.
  • Extensive track records of financial research (industry or academic), econometric modeling, and financial modelling and proven ability to promote direct and manage the work of a team of technical specialists.
  • Publication record in industry/trade journals preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in commercial real estate and CMBS data preferred, but not required.
