Description


The Associate will report to an SVP of Asset Management and will focus primarily on assisting the SVP with asset business plan development and implementation, third party relationships, development oversight, monitoring and reporting asset level performance, and identifying potential investment issues primarily in the industrial, office, medical office, life science, and/or affordable housing sectors. Responsibilities will also include:  traveling domestically to visit real estate assets and existing partners and assisting the acquisition team with underwriting potential real estate and structured finance acquisitions.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the preparation of property business plans, operating budgets, capital strategy, and leasing strategy;
  • Performing property and portfolio valuations and return analyses for quarterly investor reports;
  • Conducting market assessments and making recommendations based on results;
  • Working on special projects including hold-sell analyses, refinancing opportunities, and office sector initiatives;
  • Interacting with joint venture partners and third-party service providers and helping to manage those relationships;
  • Monitoring business plan performance and making recommendations to correct any variances;
  • Managing the lease approval process;
  • Attending monthly development meetings and reviewing development draws for office repositioning / renovation projects
  • Reviewing design drawings, development plans, budgets and schedules to help identify profit-maximizing opportunities;

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years relevant experience preferred, including: real estate acquisitions, asset management, construction management/budgeting, operations, or finance.  Office experience a plus.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Development and/or real estate cash flow modeling experience   
  • Strong quantitative and technical/computer skills (including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ARGUS)
  • A true self-starter capable of accomplishing complicated tasks with limited supervision
  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, business or related area and/or an MBA in real estate or finance
