Position Overview

Works collaboratively with the real estate team, including acquisitions, asset management, and land development. Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, draws valid conclusions, and analyzes assumptions. Tracks budgets, abstracts leases, and loan documents. Growth areas would include review of joint venture agreements, modeling of complex waterfalls, and writing investment analysis and recommendation memos. Works flexible hours to meet project deadlines and travels no more than 25% of the time to execute job responsibilities.


Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assists in underwriting new investment opportunities with a primary focus on multifamily and industrial assets and other asset types as needed – storage, office, retail, land development.
  • Builds, maintains, and audits valuation models (primarily in Excel).
  • Models property and partnership level returns.
  • Drafts investment committee memos and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Maintains acquisitions pipeline database.
  • Conducts market research and creates lease comparable tables and maps.
  • Produces marketing materials and presentations to prospective investors and lenders.
  • Assists with closing activities and special projects as assigned.
  • Supports budgeting and business planning functions.
  • Participates in monthly review of reports.
  • Conducts market analysis to document and track economic conditions for the portfolio.
  • Monitors performance relative to budgeting, underwriting, and historical performance.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and presents portfolio-wide metrics relating to both financial performance and other metrics such as expirations, debt maturities, major tenant exposures, etc. including tracking critical dates.
  • Maintains contact databases, due diligence files, and deal files.
  • Maintains weekly leasing trackers across multiple product types.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expert level in Excel modeling and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Possesses competency to produce top quality presentation materials.
  • Ability to multi-task, be self-directed, and prioritize.
  • Strictly attentive to details and accuracy.

Minimum Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration; MBA preferred. 5 years of real estate or finance experience


License

CPA and/or CFA is preferred


Physical Requirements

Possess close visual acuity, sedentary work with the ability to frequently talk, hear, finger, and repetitive motion and occasionally grasp, reach, stand, and walk.

Working Conditions

Office setting without being substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
