Title: Facilities Technical Assistant
Location: Facilities Management Service Area
Hours: Full Time
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Starting Hourly Rate: $23.41
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

A successful candidate will…

-Two years associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
-Two to five years of experience supporting facility systems.
-Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel).
-Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD/Revit/SketchUp)
-Experience using CMMS or other software system for maintenance tracking.
-Valid driver’s license.

Position Summary

The Facilities Technical Assistant provides services in support of the Facilities systems for monitoring, trending, optimization, and troubleshooting; acts as a point of contact with IndyPL IT for coordination of network, and other technical requirements of Facilities components; acts as a point of contact for coordination of digital signage hardware requirements; provides support for AV installations in the Branches and the Library Services Center; acts as a point of contact with IndyPL Branch and Shipping staff concerning material handling and security gate systems; acts as a point of contact with vendors. The Assistant resolves problems which involve both on-site and remote research, data collection, troubleshooting and analysis.


What does the job look like?

-Maintains accurate records of asset repairs and costs in CMMS.
-Maintains accurate and up-to-date CAD files of all buildings.
-Executes technical proficiency to gather data for reports from the various systems, including but not limited to door counter systems, sorting machines, HVAC, lighting, and security systems.
-Consults, responds, informs, and coordinates effectively with internal and external customers and vendors to support Facilities systems.
-Travels to IndyPL facilities to troubleshoot issues, implement repairs, and to coordinate vendor repair, upgrade, and installation activities.
-Responds appropriately to issues, finding resolutions and coordinating specific technical needs; coordinates with vendors and IT for repairs and installation of new equipment and upgrades to existing equipment.
-Assists in the preparation of IndyPL’s bidding, ITQs, RFPs, and RFQs for related services and equipment.
-Assists the Finance Department with contract management and cost tracking.
-Able to work the normally scheduled work time for this position.
-Able to cope with daily job-related stress.
