Senior Loan Closing Coordinator, Starwood Mortgage Capital

SMC is looking to add an additional Closing Coordinator to the SMC team. SMC’s Closing Coordinators are members of SMC’s loan closing team. They work closely with SMC’s Loan Closers, as well as the loan Originator, Underwriter and Analyst, to perform and/or coordinate portions of the property due diligence and to close SMC’s CMBS loans.

Job Summary:

SMC is looking to add an additional Closing Coordinator to the SMC team.  SMC’s Closing Coordinators are members of SMC’s loan closing team.  They work closely with SMC’s Loan Closers, as well as the loan Originator, Underwriter and Analyst, to perform and/or coordinate portions of the property due diligence and to close SMC’s CMBS loans.  

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Generally, SMC’s Closing Coordinators are responsible for:

• Confirming the property’s flood zone, engaging SMC’s insurance consultant and engaging SMC’s zoning consultant.
• Collecting tax bills and insurance premium information and calculating taxes and insurance impounds.
• Working with SMC’s Insurance Consultant and the SMC Loan Closer on the approval of the insurance coverages that vary from SMC stated requirements.
• Reviewing zoning reports with SMC’s Counsel and confirming the property’s compliance status. Working with SMC’s Insurance Consultant where O&L coverage is required.   Working with SMC’s Counsel and the SMC Loan Closer on mitigants for zoning issues.
• Collecting invoices for all vendors and sending same to the Escrow Agent.
• Preparing and circulating SMC’s draft Settlement Statement prior to closing.  Reviewing the Title Company’s draft settlement statement, and working to finalize and insure that the 2 statements tie out.
• Preparing repo documents necessary to add the loan to an SMC warehouse line.
• Assisting with Q&A’s in connection with SMC’s securitization of its loans.  
• Tracking Post-closing items to insure they are timely addressed.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years related work experience with prior experience in closing commercial real estate loans preferred
