Position Full-Time, Salaried, Performance-Based Bonus

As Conventus’ Senior Commercial Real Estate Underwriter, you will be a senior member of the Credit team responsible for ensuring Conventus is generating superior risk-adjusted returns for our investors.  The Credit team is the independent perspective on market trends and asset-level assumptions and is the core input into our operating and investment decision-making process.  The role is ideal for someone who loves to evaluate and analyze the details of an investment from a valuation and structural perspective.  The role best suits those who have a strong, intellectual affinity for the analytical side of commercial real estate and enjoy evaluating a steady pipeline of new, varied deals every day.  We are searching for an experienced, ambitious, and motivated professional who shares our company core values: outperformance, diligence, communication and delighting our customers. The ideal candidate enjoys prioritizing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.  The role is based in our San Francisco, CA headquarters.

At Conventus, you will have an opportunity to:

• Drive the analysis and decision-making of appropriate risk-adjusted returns
• Lead discussions to key executives around your analysis, with specific focus on identified risks and creative mitigants
• Grow your knowledge and understanding of commercial real estate through evaluation of hundreds of real estate transactions across a national footprint
• Develop research on key trends within various submarkets and leverage this research to drive thought leadership around potential investment theses and new loan products
• Collaborate closely with the Operations, Capital Markets, Product & Engineering, Data Science, Asset Management and Investments teams
• Work closely with the leadership team to build a process and team that will deliver value to our clients, and subsequently, the firm

We are seeking an individual with:

• 5+ years of experience analyzing and underwriting commercial real estate loans
• A risk protection mindset; ability to tear deals apart, identify the key risks and then build them back up by creatively proposing relevant mitigants
• An uncanny ability to remain objective and not fall in love with the deal
• Strong understanding of analyzing and interpreting leases, mortgage documents and loan files, property financial statements, appraisals, engineering and environmental reports
• Intense attention-to-detail: ensuring loan files are complete and exceptions are properly documented
• Strong experience within multifamily and mixed-use commercial properties
• Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office products (especially Excel)
• Ability to distill many pieces of data and information into concise conclusions
