THE STUDIO

In addition to guiding the design ethos of the firm, the Studio, comprised of in-house architects and designers, provides planning and design solutions, serving as an important partner to Construction, Development, Leasing and Marketing departments. Studio explores options, evaluates feasibility, develops architectural outcomes, and works with tenants to optimize occupancies.

THE POSITION

The position’s primary focus will provide design leadership and design project management within cross-functional teams including Development, Construction, Leasing, and Marketing for a range of new and existing retail and mixed used developments.

The Design Manager will be responsible for the following:

•  Act as design ambassador for all assigned properties, including internal development projects and external tenant fit-ups, by articulating, orchestrating and realizing the design goals of each project.
•  Act as main point of contact for design for external design consultant teams and internal cross-functional teams.
•  Lead the design management efforts on assigned properties from Due Diligence and Planning through Design, Construction and Closeout.
•  Support internal Due Diligence and Master Planning needs of the internal team.
•  Guide the selection and award of design consultant teams through initial outreach, RFPs, award and contract execution and contract administration.
•  Lead internal collaborative design reviews.
•  Collaborate with internal Development Manager and Construction Manager on strategy, schedule and budget.
•  Provide critical information, documentation and collateral to Leasing teams for assigned properties.
•  Support Tenant Coordination with the development of site-specific design criteria, design reviews and Lease design/construction term compliance.
•  Oversee, train, and delegate to junior staff within the Studio to aid in the execution of all aforementioned responsibilities.
•  Contribute to educational and informational special projects within the company.

QUALIFICATIONS

•  Exceptional design aesthetic executed on a range of commercial projects, including interior architecture and/or interior design, wayfinding and signage, lighting design, and FF&E for mixed use developments
•  Exemplary project management skills including organization, time management, resourcefulness, flexibility, communication and collaboration with proven success at teamwork and working independently
•  Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or similar
•  7-9 years of previous experience required
•  Design experience in retail and hospitality preferred, but not required
•  Demonstrated success working across disciplines with architects (AOR, Design, and Landscape), engineers (MEP/Life Safety, Civil, Traffic), designers (interior, lighting, environmental graphics) and signage vendors
•  Proficiency with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modeling (Sketchup or Revit)
•  Work Samples and/or portfolio are required as part of application.
