Description

The Denver Art Museum is seeking candidates for the position of Director of Facilities, who will be responsible for the strategic oversight of all facilities and physical plant operations on the museum’s three-building campus in downtown Denver’s Golden Triangle Creative District.

Founded in 1893, the Denver Art Museum is an educational, nonprofit resource that sparks creative thinking and expression through transformative experiences with art.  With collections from around the world and across time, the museum celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2018 and has recently experienced remarkable growth – with exhibitions and programs engaging more than 700,000 visitors per year.  The museum’s historic 210,000 square foot Gio Ponti-designed North Building was opened in 1971 and is currently undergoing a $150 million renovation, including the addition of a 50,000 square foot welcome center.  In 2006, the Daniel Libeskind-designed Hamilton Building opened, adding 146,000 square feet to the museum campus, and in 2014, the museum opened a 50,000 square foot office building to house its administrative staff, some collections, and a research library.  All together, the museum’s campus totals more than 400,000 square feet of exhibition, program, storage, and administrative space.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Facilities will oversee all systems, processes, and personnel related to maintaining the museum’s physical plant.  This includes identification and management of all preventative and routine maintenance as well as repairs to major building systems and HVAC, skilled trades, grounds keeping, and custodial needs.  This role also oversees departmental personnel in support of events operations and is responsible for strategic leadership of the department and cross-departmental collaboration with key colleagues to achieve the museum’s goals and mission-related activities.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of ten years of previous facilities experience, including in a museum, high security, and/or other unique or sensitive environment; experience managing a diverse staff of skilled and unskilled technicians; and experience in building systems to include, but not limited to life/safety and building automation and management systems.

Qualified candidates are expected to embody the DAM’s institutional values, which include being dynamic, respectful, connected, creative, and curious, and must maintain effective and positive working relationships with employees, volunteers, contractors, representatives of public and private entities, policy making bodies, and the general public.

The starting salary for the position is dependent on qualifications. A comprehensive benefit package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, 403(b) Retirement Plan, and RTD Eco Pass.

Please complete an online application to be considered for the position. Applications will be accepted through May 13, 2019.
