Job Summary
Responsible for moderate to complex projects associated with the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of all or specifically assigned tax returns or related reports.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepares and reviews various domestic business license and unclaimed property tax returns and related documents.
Prepares annual gross receipt apportionment schedules, and State Tax apportionment schedules.
Assists in domestic business license and unclaimed property audits by collecting information to provide to the Auditors.
Assists in responding to tax notices from various state and local tax agencies; communicates with City and State tax personnel.
Prepares monthly account reconciliations, journal entries and accruals.
Conducts tax research and implements approved tax strategies; ability to comprehend tax law.
Responsible for maintaining tax compliance in all jurisdictions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Coordinates and assigns tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project. Coordinates the work to
be completed and is responsible for day to day supervision, reviewing tax returns, audit workpapers, and deliverables.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university and a minimum 8-10 years of related experience and/or training. Applicant will be required to pass a general accounting test.
Certificates and/or Licenses
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Functional and Technical Skills
Individual must possess strong functional and technical skills. Position requires advanced computer skills, to include excel; intermediate to advanced access. Position requires strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills. Individual must be proactive, a self-starter, and be able to work independently with minimum supervision. Position requires strong project management skills. Knowledge of Business Licenses, State Escheat Law, Revenue Apportionment and PeopleSoft desired.
Communication Skills
Excellent written and oral communications skills are required, as well as strong organizational and analytical skills. Must be able to comprehend, analyze and interpret various types of business documents; as well as write clear and concise reports and memos. In addition, applicant must possess the ability to clearly and effectively communicate, both oral and written, with field personnel, co-workers, supervisors and management of all levels.
Financial Knowledge
Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures
such as percentages, interest, and/or commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis for ad hoc requests.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving
several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
Scope of Responsibility
Decisions made with understanding the procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve
general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.
