Position Overview:
The Head of Valuations will work to enhance our client’s real estate valuation platform and oversee the quarterly development and communication of appraised real estate asset values. This position reports to the Head of Portfolio Management based in Boston, MA. This individual and team are accountable for coordinating valuations analysis and reporting while maintaining global policies, procedures, governance, and compliance.

The chosen professional will oversee a team (Valuations Team) focused on facilitating the quarterly valuation process and collaborate with Asset Managers, Acquisition Market Leads, Portfolio Managers, Valuations Committee, Investment Committee, and other global stakeholders. Key responsibilities of the role include the recommendation and implementation of best practices across reporting, systems, technology, and consulting engagements while ensuring compliance and quality control of the quarterly valuation process. Additionally, this role will have key training and development responsibilities for a team of both fully and partially dedicated analysts assigned to the Valuations Team.

Skills and Competencies:
• This role is divided into three primary functions: 1) executing the quarterly valuations process 2) recruiting and mentoring the valuations team, and 3) collaborating with technology and operations to improve the platform.
• Serve as the national "go to" expert and thought leader – both internally and externally regarding valuation across Industrial, Multifamily, Office, Retail, Data Centers, and Self-Storage along with new expansionary strategies.
• Develop and manage quality of deliverables (e.g., methodologies, instruction letters, standardized reporting).
• Ability to manage various stakeholders. Excellent collaboration and strong relationship management skills.
• Focused and self-motivated team player, who balances independent thinking with the execution capabilities and core competencies of the greater team/organization.
• Ability to juggle competing priorities and work under pressure to meet demanding deadlines, all while paying strict attention to detail.
• Strong proficiency in Argus Enterprise and Excel required.
• Experience with Yardi, Power BI, and VTS is desirable.
• Use multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations.
• Use data and insights to inform conclusions and support decision-making.
• Develop a point of view on key global trends, and how they impact product verticals.
 
Qualifications:
• Strong institutional real estate valuation expertise (with relevant history in industrial, multifamily, office, data center, retail, self-storage product sectors), with 10+ years of relevant commercial appraisal experience preferred.
• MAI/AACI/MRICS designations desirable
• Familiarity with appraisal review process, either with Altus or third-party appraisers.
• Bachelor’s degree required; fields of study include Real Estate, Accounting, Finance, or similar fields relevant to real estate valuation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a high-powered, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and tight deadlines.
